CREATIVE WARM UP
From my Sketchbook |
Creative warm up or simply asking my mind to please keep quite for a bit? Let's not think for a while, if I need to be really impressive, original or unique. Just draw what I see in real life in front of me. Today its my favourite body butter that lives on my desk ;-)
I am planing to do a bit of mindful sketching everyday by just spending 5 to 10 minutes to draw from 3 dimensional objects. I think this will help me clear my mind before I start working. I will try to post these drawings here on my blog everyday. Hope you will like them :-)
Learning to quiet the “Inner Critic” is an important part of this process. When we tame the inner critic we are inviting a clear passage for creativity to flow.” – Trina Swerdlow

DRAWING VEHICLES FOR CHILDRENS BOOKS
These days I am working on books about Fire trucks and Recycle trucks. These are very interesting truck shaped books with lots of detailed artwork hidden behind sliders for children to explore. I love drawing vehicles with lots of details. I try to include the realistic technical stuff but make it look cute and colourful and sometimes a bit crafty too with the use of patterns and stitches. I can't share the illustrations from these books yet so I thought it would be nice to share this illustration I did in 2012 for my first book published in the US in early 2013 called Way Up High in the Big Blue Sky This book involved researching about planes, helicopters and spacecrafts. This book is packed full of all kinds of flying machines with realistic details drawn in a very child friendly way. If you have a little one who is interested in flying machines then this book would be a wonderful gift.

AN UPDATE
It has been a while I haven’t got a chance to update this blog. From now on I'm planning to update this space more often to share my work. There have been some positive changes in both my personal and professional life since last summer. On the personal front, I was blessed with my second baby son in August :). On the professional front I ended my contract with the surface pattern design agent I was working with since 2006 and signed a new contract with one of the leading children's illustration agency known as Advocate Art I have already finished some interesting book assignments with my new agent. I am constantly adding new work to my portfolio. With the help of the lovely agents at Advocate Art, I have ventured into greeting card design and I'm really enjoying it. My first greeting card collection has been licensed by an American Company for cards, wraps and gift bags which is very encouraging.
If you have a moment then please have a look at my children's illustration portfolio on the childrensillustrators.com or at my agent's website.
As you can see I have also updated the look of my blog. I think It looks much cleaner and lighter now. I hope you will like it:)
